Commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Objetivos de desarrollo Sostenible

Action plan promoted by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda, which sets out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with 169 integrated targets covering the economic, social and environmental spheres. In this way, the international community is tackling a new challenge to achieve food security, guarantee quality education, ensure access to water and energy, take measures against climate change and, in general, achieve global economic development that is sustainable and respectful of the planet and its resources, among other points.

FYCMA is firmly committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals promoted by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda to promote development that guarantees a more sustainable, clean, equal and accessible environment, implementing procedures and tools based on these global principles in its daily activities.

In this way, the Malaga venue is aligned with the Strategic Plan of the city of Malaga to achieve the goals proposed by the United Nations. The Board of Trustees of the CIEDES Foundation acts as the guarantor of the city’s strategic planning, creating synergies with the SDGs and thus setting out the lines of the diagnosis and the Malaga 2030 SDG Action Plan.

What are SDGs?

The United Nations has set out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the 2030 Agenda, which include 169 integrated targets covering economic, social and environmental areas. In this way, the international community is tackling a new challenge to achieve food security, guarantee quality education, ensure access to water and energy, take measures against climate change and, in general, achieve global economic development that is sustainable and respectful of the planet and its resources, among other points.

What are we doing at FYCMA to meet the SDGs?

ODS-1   ODS-2

  • FYCMA’s activities boost the economy and create wealth in the city of Malaga. As a generator of employment, we promote specialisation and qualification within the business community. It is estimated that, during 2018, we maintained more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
  • Corporate social responsibility initiatives channelled through actions such as food collection and blood donation.
  • Taberna Alabardero, FYCMA’s official catering and restaurant service provider, donates surplus food to the Malaga-based association Ángeles de la Noche.

ODS-3

  • Through FYCMA Life, our staff participate in sports and recreational activities throughout the year to promote healthy lifestyles and foster a positive working environment.
  • Cardio-safe space: We are the first exhibition and conference centre in Andalusia to receive this distinction, which certifies that the venue complies with training requirements and has semi-automatic external defibrillators installed, as well as trained staff who can act immediately in the event of a cardiac arrest.
  • We offer comprehensive training programmes tailored to the new demands of the market and our audience, such as learning about tools and new technologies, forms of communication and languages.

ODS-4

  • We offer comprehensive training programmes tailored to the new demands of the market and our audience, such as learning about tools and new technologies, forms of communication and languages.

ODS-5   ODS-10

  • Internal equality plan in which we promote access to equal opportunities for promotion and equal pay, and anticipate situations of harassment, among other actions.

ODS-6   ODS-14

  • We take care of our facilities by complying with current cleaning regulations.
  • We use water efficiently. Among other actions, we work with our suppliers to use cleaning products that are more environmentally responsible.
  • We have decanting systems in the restoration area to separate solid products from water, which is thus purified, leaving it cleaner for subsequent stages.

ODS-7

  • At FYCMA, we have our own photovoltaic solar plant consisting of 561 panels that generate approximately 155 kWh each year.
  • Continuous improvement of our energy systems to reduce consumption, such as sectorised on/off controls and optimisation of the cooling system.

ODS-8

  • Promoting responsible practices among our suppliers and the companies we work with to ensure quality employment.
  • Comprehensive monitoring of working conditions, safety and health of FYCMA employees and collaborators. In this way, we ensure that safety conditions are maintained during the numerous assembly and disassembly operations involved in our activity.
  • The allocation of preventive resources, the ongoing assessment of procedures or potential risks, and the automation of control tasks are currently emerging as the main areas of work in this regard.
  • We have employee representatives who guarantee the defence of labour rights and act as direct liaisons between employees and management.

ODS-9   ODS-17

  • We have specialised professional forums that promote innovation in different areas of activity and raise the profile of the innovative entrepreneurial fabric.
  • Our trade fairs showcase the current situation in the various sectors covered, such as the hospitality, hotel and catering industries and real estate.

  • FYCMA is a sustainable space affiliated with standardised management systems such as environmental, energy and sustainability management at events.

  • Waste segregation in offices (paper, ink cartridges and plastic), as well as in catering services and rubbish removal.
  • Reducing paper and cardboard consumption in our business through the use of electronic documentation and digital signage, among other measures.

  • In our contracting and service procurement activities, we act in accordance with the new public sector procurement law and the transparency portal.
