The Orchestra and Choir of the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre – Ministry of Culture of Ukraine present CARMINA BURANA by Orff and RÉQUIEM by Mozart. A must-see for lovers of life, art and satire.

Carmina Burana – Carl Orff

Carmina Burana, Carl Orff’s most famous work, is an ode to life, love, dance, drink and hedonism – but always with one eye on the workings of fate. Based on 24 medieval Latin poems whose carefree spirit stands in stark contrast to traditional concepts of life and death in the Middle Ages, this radical and powerful cantata for large-scale choir, orchestra and soloists was a huge success at its premiere in 1937. Its worldwide popularity since then has made it a firm favourite amongst singers and audiences alike.

Réquiem – Mozart

The fact that it is the only Mass for the dead in his extensive catalogue, that it was his final work – left unfinished (due to his death) – and the mysterious circumstances surrounding its commission and composition have all contributed to the legend and fascination that Mozart’s Requiem continues to inspire to this day.
