ENNIO MORRICONE & NINO ROTA – Cine Philharmonic Orchestra
08/01/2027 -20:00h
Join us to hear the enduring work of these two unforgettable masters of great vitality and brilliance: Ennio Morricone & Nino Rota.
Music from some of Hollywood’s greatest films storms off the silver screen and on to the concert stage, in a program that will thrill not just moviegoers but anyone who loves music.
From the plaintive whistling and twanging guitar that give A Fistful of Dollars its haunting appeal to the wistful nostalgia of Cinema Paradiso, Morricone’s music has enriched some of the finest films ever made. With innovative instrumentation and intriguing tonality, he put an unmistakeable mark on films such as Once Upon a Time In America, The Untouchables and, of course, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Inextricably linked to the films of Federico Fellini, Nino Rota is even more famous for his magnificent scores to The Godfather movies, where the melancholic trumpet, dramatic strings and period accordion evoke a festive family atmosphere with a fatally sinister edge. This orchestral concert revisits the music of the composer whose extraordinary talent conjured up everything from a travelling circus in Fellini’s La Strada and the decadence of life in Rome for La Dolce Vita to the debauchery of Casanova and the evil glamour of Death on the Nile.
