Malaga, March 22, 2024.- Transfiere, the European Meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation, concluded today at FYCMA (Trade Fairs and Congress Center of Málaga) after three days of intense activity where over 4,500 professionals from the R&D&I field shared knowledge, opportunities, and business. Transfiere solidifies itself in this ecosystem as the annual reference meeting point to share the scientific and technological innovations driving the transformation of the social and economic model.

Through the new initiative ‘Transfiere Tracciona’, the event has enhanced contact between academic and research knowledge and the driving force of the business fabric and public administrations. A space where all actors involved in the multi-sectoral innovation and knowledge transfer process have converged. It is worth mentioning that a total of more than 600 companies and entities were represented at the event, along with over 440 experts who addressed the largest European agenda on these topics, and 40 investors getting first-hand knowledge of innovative projects.

Precisely, and in this commitment to business innovation as a guarantee of competitiveness and development model, Transfiere today awarded for the first time the ‘Innovative Company Award’ of the 2024 edition with the aim of recognising the work and commitment of companies that annually support the forum. This award went to Fish & Food Technology, a technology-based company specialising in the development of projects in the fishing and agri-food sector.

IV Open Call for Deep Tech Start-ups

Furthermore, during the last day, innovative talent was rewarded through the fourth edition of the ‘Open Call for Deep Tech Start-ups’, an initiative coordinated together with Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and The European Business Angels Network (EBAN), which this year received 82 applications. After the presentations of each of the projects, the winner was the spinoff Nanostine, dedicated to the research, development, and commercialisation of nanoparticles and nanostructured coatings with high added value. The award is endowed with a cash prize of 1,000 euros and presence both in the exhibition area and in the content programme of Transfiere 2025.

Alongside Nanostine, finalists include Crisalion Mobility, AGPhotnocis, Hydros Power, and Lumen. This call values startups from national and international scope with projects in the field of deep tech, that is, technologies with high entry barriers that require a deep level of scientific knowledge to develop and substantial investment to become products or services reaching global markets. Thus, Transfiere aims to increase the visibility of such emerging companies to investors interested in these types of projects.

Transfiere 2024 was organised by the Malaga City Council, the Ministry of University, Research and Innovation of the Regional Government of Andalusia, and the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities.
