Madrid, 5th March 2025.– Transfiere, the European Forum for Science, Technology, and Innovation, reaffirms its status as the leading event for knowledge transfer and R&D and innovation in its fourteenth edition. More than 400 national and international experts will participate in a content programme addressing the most disruptive trends in the scientific and technological fields. The forum, to be held from 12th to 14th March at FYCMA (Malaga Trade Fairs and Congress Centre), will host over 600 companies, organisations, and public administrations, as well as delegations and participants from more than 30 countries, further enhancing its global reach.

The event was officially presented to the media and the national innovation ecosystem, with the participation of Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of Malaga; Elisa Rivera, Director of Planning, Coordination and Knowledge Transfer at the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities; Loreto del Valle, Director-General of Research Planning at the Regional Ministry of Universities, Research, and Innovation of the Andalusian Government; Juan Carlos Rubio, Vice-Rector for Transfer, Entrepreneurship, and Business at the University of Malaga, representing CRUE Spanish Universities; and Nacho Román, General Director of FYCMA. Also in attendance was Marina Pollán, Director-General of the Carlos III Health Institute, where the presentation took place.

Over 100 thematic panels and the launch of the ‘Patents Space’

The Transfiere 2025 programme will feature more than 100 thematic panels across its five main content areas: Innovation Room, Science Room, Agora, Research Centre, and Andalucía Knowledge. Key topics will include the impact of disruptive technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as innovation challenges in strategic sectors such as security and defence, advanced industry and manufacturing, aeronautics, energy and sustainability, technology and digitalisation, biotechnology and health, and intellectual property, among others.

As a new feature, this edition introduces the ‘Patent Space’, developed in collaboration with the RedOTC Andalusia and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM). This initiative aims to connect researchers, startups, and companies with investors and technology sector agents, to foster synergies between science and the market. The programme will include presentations of patented inventions with high-impact potential, private meetings between investors and research groups, roundtables on patents in defence, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, and patent training workshops.

An international innovation ecosystem

Transfiere is the main platform for territorial innovation policies in Spain, with the participation of 90% of the country’s autonomous regions and cities. This edition will feature representation from Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castile and Leon, Castile-La Mancha, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarra, and the Basque Country, alongside Cantabria, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and La Rioja, participating through the Tech FabLab initiative. For the first time, the autonomous city of Melilla will be represented, joining Malaga, Salamanca, and Jaen in showcasing regional collaboration opportunities.

On the international front, the 2025 edition will highlight the participation of the United Kingdom as the guest country. The event will foster connections between companies, startups, and technology centres from both countries, promoting new investment and cooperation opportunities within the European R&D and innovation framework.

Additionally, the international presence is strengthened with delegations and attendees from over 30 countries, including Argentina, Turkey, and Poland, encouraging new synergies and facilitating global cooperation networks in innovation and technology. Malaga TechPark will also play a prominent role, with a delegation of over 100 professionals and the presentation of three European consortia focused on industrial innovation and technology entrepreneurship.

Over 80 universities and more Than 100 innovation organisations

The academic sector will be one of the main highlights of Transfiere 2025, with the participation of over 80 national and international universities, including academic entities with registered attendees. So far, professionals from more than 170 research groups have registered.

CRUE Spanish Universities serves as a strategic partner, while the RedOTC (Knowledge Transfer Offices) hosts its biennial technical sessions at the forum. The University of Malaga, a Silver Partner, is the host academic institution, and Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna is the international guest university for 2025.

Furthermore, Transfiere is a platform for cutting-edge innovation, with more than 100 prototypes on display in the exhibition area or featured in various content sessions. European projects such as AGROALNEXT – Miguel Hernández University (Elche, Alicante) – and THINKIN AZUL – Campus of International Excellence of the Sea (CEI·MAR) – will also be showcased, focusing on marine environment protection.

Additionally, over 100 intermediate innovation bodies will participate, including clusters, technology centres, scientific parks, and large-scale research infrastructures (ICTS). These organisations are backed by entities such as Fedit (Spanish Technology Centres), the Spanish Association of Science and Technology Parks (APTE), the National Federation of Clusters and AEIs (FENAEIC), Public Research Organisations (OPIS), the State Research Agency, the National Association of Business and Innovation Centres (ANCES), Innova-IRV, and ICTS.

Companies driving innovation

The business sector will be a major focus of Transfiere 2025. The forum aims to bring together leading companies under the Transfiere Tracciona initiative, which facilitates knowledge access to enhance competitiveness, foster public-private collaboration, and support internationalisation.

Participating companies are primarily linked to sectors such as technology consulting and industrial and intellectual property, ranging from large corporations in telecommunications and energy to startups and emerging projects. The event will also host the second edition of the ‘Transfiere Tracciona Innovative Company Award’.

In this regard, it is worth noting that over 60 startups are registered across the event’s various programmes, and this year marks the fifth edition of the Open Call for Deep Tech Start-ups, coordinated with the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), connecting deep tech projects with national and international investors to gain visibility and funding.

Alongside these initiatives, this edition will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Transfiere Journalism Award for Scientific, Technological, and Innovation Communication, which recognises excellence in journalism promoting innovation and technology in Spain.

With its 2025 edition, Transfiere reaffirms its role as the leading European forum for knowledge transfer and innovation. It is an ecosystem that connects science, business, and administration to transform research and technological development into economic and social value, annually driving the circulation of knowledge and its integration into productive activities.
